Keep your stupid wine and cheese, but let me bounce across the Seine on this awesome trampoline bridge and France will earn its keep on this planet for good.
The winning entry into the “Bridge in Paris” competition, which challenged ”participants to come up with a New Contemporary Bridge over the Seine River in Paris” and “create a new Icon or landmark,” came from AZC architecture studio who conceived of a massive inflatable trampoline bridge (pictured in a rendering above) in which pedestrians could bounce back-and-forth between La Rive Gauche and La Rive Droite. The structure itself will be “formed out of inflatable modules, like giant life-preservers, 30 meters in diameter. In the central part of each ring, a trampoline mesh is stretched,” according to AZC. No word on when construction will commence but here’s hoping Parisians can get their bounce on toute de suite.
So glorious…
