Explaining Censorship

What’s the point of censorship when everyone already knows what’s being censored?

Decency censorship is rarely about information suppression – its about setting standards for a culture. a restaurant with a dress code does so not because people dont already know what shorts and tank tops look like, but because theyre trying to present and preserve a certain image. likewise with speech standards at a certain location or institution, arena or on public airwaves – its about setting “time and place” standards.
i wish parents were better parents, kids were better kids, and government had at least 80% less intrusion over our lives than it currently does, but that is the answer to your question (even if we might not like the result).
