Dennis Prager on Comparing Yourself To Others

In this, he discusses the issue of Comparing yourself to other people. You shouldn’t, but people do it anyways. And he quotes the mother of his best friend Joseph, Helen, “The only happy people I know are people I don’t know well”

Once you get to know people, you know a whole host of issues that affect them and their lives daily, and it should humble you to know that you are not exceptional to life’s problems.

George Will does great on Colbert

George Will makes the extremely short list of guests who actually made a good give-and-take with Steven Colbert. The only others I’ve ever seen NOT be awkward and do a good job of pushing the shtick forward were James Carville, and O’Reilly (though for some reason Steven became the awkward one in O’Reilly’s presence and had more than a few moments go flat). I think there was one more but I can’t remember who it was.

Anyway, enjoy Will’s dry responses and deadpan humor as he allows Colbert to sum up conservatism as an untouchable freedom dome where you just put a bunch of things inside and let whatever happens happen – and if a turtle eats a fiddler crab, then by golly that was his choice (both of their choices presumably: the crab for choosing that environment and the turtle’s choice for expressing himself that way). sweet.

Could “Back To You” be brought back… to you?

The recently canceled sitcom, Back To You could possibly switch to CBS who first eyed the series before Fox snagged it. So why not encourage this? Fox has a terrible record of canceling shows that are just starting to gain an audience and make the switch from cult following to mainstream popularity anyway.

Fox’s fall schedule is set to be announced Thursday in New York. The network declined comment on the fate of “Back to You.”

Grammer said he spoke with Fox executives Peter Liguori and Kevin Reilly on Saturday and that they didn’t fully explain the decision. He speculated that their interest in the show had “waned” so they were unwilling to be patient with it.

“I’m not really sure what the real reasoning is. I think they ended up with a show that was going to be a great show. It was a great show,” he said.

An online petition campaign is afoot to save the show and Grammer and his wife, Camille, sent an e-mail note to friends inviting them to jump aboard. Grammer said he’s “nursing a tiny hope” that CBS might pick up the show after talking with CBS CEO Leslie Moonves.

“I spoke with Les the other day and he was not completely discouraging,” Grammer said, wryly.

Grammer and his wife e-mailed friends that if they wished to voice support for the show to CBS, “you won’t hear us complaining.”

Here’s part of one episode where they sent a dude to Anthrocon, which, God help us all… is a real thing where people who like to dress up as animals get together for non-sexual…um… meetings I guess:

And his coverage of him actually there is even better:

C’mon now. You’re telling me this is less worthy than anything else currently running in the same or surrounding time slots on any of the main networks?

I say give Back To You some after-the-fact support and contact FOX to express disappointment and more importantly, contact CBS to express encouragement.

Unfortunate excitement from Price Is Right contestant

This is EXACTLY why watching Price is Right growing up, I never wanted to be a contestant. I was always afraid I would do something like this and it would be remembered forever and this was before roundup shows like the Soup and anything anywhere near youtube…

FINALLY: Worlds largest rubber band ball record broken

I tried this for awhile but got tired of it. I kept my tin foil ball (copying the boulder sized one on Pee Wee’s Playhouse which impressed me) going much longer.

Screw this guys ghetto friends and bless his supportive, encouraging “momma” (which i have no idea why the reporter called her that, so I’m just gonna go with “racism” as the explanation).

Exit question: will we ever stop with the tired insult of saying someone has too much free time on their hands? How annoying is that? Do YOU also have too much time mr reporter guy? Cuz if not, then why are you wasting it on such a story that according to you isn’t newsworthy? Jerk.

How Modern Liberals Think

A speech full of astute observations on modern liberals.
The thesis: that it is through a passionate pursuit of utopianism that Liberals go so against established logical norms. That because none of these ideas, moral codes, philosophies, etc have worked in producing an ideal world, they must be rejected in favor of the ideas, codes and philosophies they compete against. They reject (what western society had previously established as) common sense and conventional wisdom precisely because they are common and conventional.
Evan Sayet was a writer for “The Arsenio Hall Show” and then the very first Creative Consultant on “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher”.

Bankrupt Sharper Image to close remaining 86 stores

Awwwwwwwwwww MAN! This sucks. Every time I pass the Sharper Image stores in LA, New York and Honolulu I always stop in to play with some of the toys and most definitely get an ijoy chair massage on my back and calves. Now I’m screwed. Never again being able to get free muscular relieve within malls from products I’m too cheap to purchase. =(

Bankrupt gadget retailer Sharper Image plans to close all its remaining stores, its new owners announced Sunday.

The company expects to sell $50 million in inventory as it shutters 86 stores across the United States, the joint owners of Hilco Organization and Gordon Brothers said in a statement.

The group, which purchased the gadget retailer’s assets in a bankruptcy auction Thursday for $49 million, said it has developed a licensing strategy for wholesale, retail, direct-to-retail, e-commerce, and catalog businesses.

Sharper Image filed for bankruptcy protection in February with plans to shut about half of its 184 stores and reorganize. The San Francisco-based company said it had lost more than $135 million since early 2005. The company put itself up for sale in April.
